Many tools in Love lets you either place objects in the environment or modify the terrain, when these tools are used a HUD overlay will show you what block you will be editing. If the overlay is red it means that the block cant be edited. Normally you can only edit land within your settlement, but on occasion you can find editable blocks outside you settlement too. Health and power ---------------- The borders around you are normally black but when you get hurt they will start turning red. when they have become completely red you will die and by clicking you will re-spawn at your settlement or latest checkpoint. When you die you will drop any Tokens or other single use items, and you power will revert back to 100. To heal simply pick up power pods. Note that you cant heal by picking up power pods that you yourself ave dropped. Settlements and Tokens ---------------------- Love is a game designed around settlements, in order to progress you need to start of join a settlement. In order to create settlement you must find a monolith token. if you are not a member of a settlement this is the only type of token you can pick up. There is a very limited number of settlements that can be active in the world at any one point, so most likely you will have to be join an existing settlement rather then creating a new one. To join a existing settlement just walk up to its monolith token aim at it and press the left mouse button. If you have found a monolith token it can be placed anywhere in the world (except too close to an other settlement) to create a new settlement. Once a settlement has been created the land around the monolith will become editable so that you can build, and place out objects around it. Most object can only be placed fairly close to the monolith but some objects can be placed a bit further out form the settlement. As your settlement evolved you can find tokens that lets you extend the size of the settlement giving you more space you build and keep your tokens. Tokens are objects that you find in the world that gives your settlement new tools and objects. Once they have been found they can be placed in your settlement and be accessed by all its members. Once they have been placed all you need to do to use them is to walk up to one of them, aim at it and press the 1, 2, 3, or 4 key to place it in one of your four tool slots. All members of a settlement have access to all tokens in that settlement at anytime, so they can use whet ever tool or configuration of tools they want disregarding who brought them to the settlement. A settlements and the tokens and buildings in it can be destroyed, so you will need to defend it properly. Tool bar. -------- The tool bar will show you your current status and inventory. Depending on what tools you are carrying and what you store in your inventory the tool bar will grow and include new things. by releasing the mouse you can manipulate the menu bar by clicking on an icon to equip it, or just hold your mouse over it to get tool tips that explains it. If you press a key while holding your mouse pointer over a icon you will bind that key to that particular tool or action. When releasing the mouse pointer in order to chat be careful not to accidentally put your mouse over any of the icons, as this will bind your keys rather the produce any chat text. Tools At any time you can carry four different tools. The four first icons to your left indicate what tool you are currently carrying. you can switch tools by either clicking on the icons when the mouse is released or using the 1, 2, 3, or 4 numerical keys. Most tools require you you press the left mouse button in order to use them, but some become active just by selecting them such as the swim or dive tools. Tools will disappear if the token in your settlement is destroyed. Power In love power is the main resource and when you spawn you will always start out witch 100 power. By collecting power pods you cant get more power, and that you pick up will also heal you. In the menu bar you can see your current level of power and how much it costs to use the tool you currently have equipped. If the cost is higher then the amount of power you have the power meter will turn read. If you have less then 25 in power the power will automatically regenerate at a rate of one per second. Frequencies If any one of your tools is a radio the current frequency of that radio will be displayed in the tool bar. A player may carry have radios on more then one tool slot in order to be able to listen to several frequencies simultaneously. When sending a chat message you need to select the radio tool to broadcast to that particular frequency, but you do not need to have a radio selected in order to get messages sent to the frequency the radio is set to. By releasing your mouse you can change the frequency by either dragging up and down or by clicking on the arrows to change the frequency one tenth at the time. By clicking on the frequency symbol to the right the currently set frequency will be stored. Single use Items You have four single item slots where you can store tokens and other things you will find in the world. Equip them by pressing F1. F2 F3, or F4. At times tokens may magically disappear from your single use inventory. This happens if an other player has added that functionality to your settlement. Re-spawns The re-spawns are icons that are constantly rotated towards your spawn points. The first one represents your home settlement, and the second one represent your check point. At any time you can by clicking on one of these two icons teleport back to your settlement or your last check point, in case you have gotten stuck, lost, or need to quickly return to your settlement. Please note that doing so will reset your power back to 100 and you will drop any single use items such as tokens that you are carrying. Stored Keys, Frequencies, Places and Actions. When you store, keys, frequencies, places and actions, they will appear as icons in the tool bar. By clicking on a stored frequency while having a radio selected, will set the radio to the stored frequency. By clicking on a place, key or a frequency when not having a radio selected will copy the stored data to the chat line. Clicking on an action will send out the message stored i it. When you hold you mouse button over a stored Key, frequency place or action a delete option will appear just under it, that you can click on in order to remove any unwanted stored data. The chat system --------------- Above the view, you will find the chat. When you look at an other player you will see their name above them. The you release your mouse pointer you can type in a message, and press enter to send it out. A message coming from some one faraway will appear dim and if it is far away enough it wont appear at all. Radio To be able to chat with anyone far away you both need to use a radio item. A radio can be set to one of over 200 radio channels, and by chatting while having a radio item selected, any one listening to that frequwency will get your message. While you need to select a radio in order to broadcast over it, you don't have to have it selected in order to listen to it. You can even by carrying multiple radios listen to more then one channel at the time. Any message that comes over the radio will have its frequency next to it so that you can keep track of where messages are coming from. Keys, Frequencies, Places and Actions. In order to express some important information, and to be able to store it, icons will appear in the chat text when it contains specific things. By clicking on one of these icons you will store them so that you can use them later. They will be stored in your tool bar. By clicking on one of the icons in the tool bar the stored information will be copied in to your chat so that you can include them in your messages. This system allows you to keep track of things like passwords, frequencies and places. Keys Keys are keywords that can be stored as single words. Keys can be used as passwords to open doors, activate machines and many other things. In order to write a key word just type "key:" followed by the keyword. Frequencies Since radios are an important part of communication, it is valuable to be able to communicate frequencies easily. In order to write a frequency just type the frequency (including the decimal) followed by Mhz. Places The world in Love has a coordinate system that is defined by an X and a Y coordinate and then a letter stating name of the pyrasphere. The six phyrasperes are: Nove Sota Ereca Widas Idra Rile To type in a place simply type the 2 coordinates followed by at least the first letter in the phyroshere. Often it is good to divide the number with a colon, period or a comma to make it easier to read. Here are some examples of valid ways to write a place: 121:22:S 23 . 34 . Nove 89 78 : E Note that once a place have been stored in the tool bar it will always stay oriented in the direction of the place. This makes it possible to use it as a compass making easier to find the place. Actions An action is an entire message that can contain places, keys and frequencies. Next to each line in the chat window you will find an action icon that lets you store the message and send it again. It will also store the frequency the message was broadcasted in, so that if you activate it, it will re broadcast in the same channel given that you have at least one radio among your tools. Actions are great for when you want to be able to prepare messages you want to be able to quickly send out, but can also be used to trigger actions in the environment. Objects Many objects have radios built in to let them either broadcast or listen to a frequency. This lets you remote control object and also interlink different objects. Say you have a sensor, and you configure it to broadcast on a specific frequency, then you can listen to that frequency and when ever the sensor picks something up, it will send a message, about what an where it is sensing. Now imagine you have a turret and you make it listen to the same frequency. The turret takes a place in order to know the direction it should turn to. Whenever the sensor sends a message including a place, the turret will turn towards that place. Many objects can also send a keyword, that others can recognize. Imagine you want to make a door and connect it to a button, then you would set the button and the door to the same frequency and then let both of them use the key word "Solaar". Whenever you press the button it would send out the keyword to the selected frequency, and the door would only open if the specific key word would be sent. Key words can also be used as filters. Imagine you want to build a automatic door that only opens for a specific person, the you would create a sensor and a door and give the door a key word that is the name of the person you want to let in. Since the sensor will broadcast, the name, type and place of what it finds, the door will only find the keyword in the message if the right person is being sensed. This system of frequencies, keywords places and actions also make up the environment. This gives you a opportunity to figure out how intercept messages and use the environment to your advantage. Config display tool -------------------- The config display, is a very important tool that lets you configure objects in the environment. Depending on the object type you can set, Keys, Frequencies, Places and Actions in the displays. When you walk up to a configurable object with the config tool selected the display will appear. You can edit the display by just clicking on it. By clicking in a keyword it becomes editable so that you can type in a new key word. Places and frequencies can be edited by clicking on the up or down arrow to incrementally change the values, or by dragging to more quickly go trough the values. Under each value you will find a line, with some tiny icons on them. These icons represent the stored keys, frequencies or places you have. Mousing over them will light up the corresponding icon in your inventory and display the stored data. By clicking on them you will apply the stored value to the object. The icon furthest to the right in the line is a plus sign, by pressing it you will store the current value in your inventory so that you can use it again at a later point. Being able to store your frequencies, places keys and actions in this way makes sure that you don't forget them or accidentally type them in wrong since you can always copy them in to your messages and display settings. Most object in the world outside your settlement can not be configured using the config tools.
